[comp.sys.mac.programmer] SE and Plus

newton@nodename.dec.com (07/05/89)

The Macintosh Plus and Macintosh SE (the regular one, not the /30) will never
be able to participate in 32-bit addressing because the 68000 processor which
they use is limited to 24-bit addressing. (Obviously if you place a 68020 or
68030 board in your Plus this might no longer be the case). Whether you will
be able to use most of the 24-bit address space for RAM depends on the design
of the hardware; the original Mac, at least, did not do much address decoding.
