Well, if the file system is redone in such a way as to make it reasonable to get a list of files in the curren dir, and to change around (i.e. _not_ patch on top of an older, perverted file system), then what's the big deal? Unix, Dos, and VMS programmers (like me in my other hats) have had to write this kind of stuff for years. What's the big deal? I personally would gladly give up standard file's restrictions if a reasonable alternative was presented. I really think that the only reason so many of us use it is that we don't want to go do the mucking around in pb's that rewriting standard file would entail.
