I'm not too hip on MPW yet, but I've been using the File Manager routine 'Create'. I think it's in IM vol. 2. Once the file is created you can open it as you would any other file. Or you can just do your regular file stuff and after you close the file, call SetFInfo (set finder info - I think) to set the TYPE and CREATOR.
