[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Heirarchial Menus

djnowak@luna.dpl.scg.hac.com (David Nowak) (09/06/89)

I know this may have been covered before, but I would appreciate if
someone could again post how to program for heirarchial menus. In particular,
I am having trouble getting the submenus to "pop-up" on the screen next
to the menu item having the ">" mark to the right of it. What is the
sequence of ROM calls needed to do this and to handle the menu items?
I am currently using MPW/TML Pascal but any language code examples will
be appreciated.

Thanks.

You shouldn't need to do any code changes for handling the menu's the
Mac's OS deals with that. Sounds like you might not be inserting the h-part
of the menu list with a '-1' in the after parameter. By inserting a menu
with a -1 that tells the Menu manager that it's an h-menu and needs to be
dealt with differently.

Also make sure that you have the item mark fields and command key fields in
your Menu resource set up properly. :-)

  Hope this helps.
