I'm looking for any impressions on Smalltalk/V for the macintosh. Both in the language itself, and this particular implementation. It looks interesting, but I'm a little hesitant right now.. Also, anybody know anything about Inside Mac being rewritten for C? (somebody told me something like this) David..

I have had Smalltalk/V Mac for about six months, and I think it may be the best program I ever bought. Smalltalk is a beautiful language, clean, elegant, powerful. The implementation is great too, fast, stable and fun. One thing, if you are writing production applications where extreme speed and minimal size are important, you might be better off with Think C 4.0. On the other hand if you want to learn object oriented programming, or want to prototype applications, Smalltalk is the way to go. hope this helps [tm] dg ------ All opinions are mine and may or may not represent Sybase Inc. ------ David Gould dg@sybase.com {sun,lll-tis,pyramid,pacbell}!sybase!dg (415) 596-3414 6475 Christie Ave. Emeryville, CA 94608
