[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Mac Objects

mm5l+@andrew.cmu.edu (Matthew Mashyna) (10/06/89)

I was wondering if anyone had a Think C class similar to MacApp's
TTextListView (a scrolling list that can handle >32K by getting each
displayed line in the list as it needs to be displayed) when It occured
that other people probably would like to exhange objects and ideas about
object oriented programming on the Mac.

Is there an interest in creating a MacOops news group ? If there is
enough interest I will take the initiative to get it started. I think
you Think C fans could really benefit from this since the base classes
don't have all the niceities of MacApp. I'd like to see some better
support for Object C and I think that we, as users, could do this best
by working together instead of waiting for MacApp's C++ (2nd qtr of 90
?) or Think C 5.0 (who knows when ?)

Waiting for those cards and letters,

I suggest we just stick in comp.sys.mac.programer and/or comp.object until
traffic is enough that people throw us out to our own group...

Let's avoid the hassle of creating a newsgroup, and just DO it (could
comp.binaries.mac (long delay) be the appropriate forum ? Or post
sources to comp.sys.mac.programmer and redirect follow-ups and discussion
about it to comp.object ?

Happy Hacking !

The beta 1 version of MPW C++ was sent to APDA last week. Apple had a press
release about it at OOPSLA '89. We also showed a beta of SADE 1.1 that
fully supports Object Pascal and C++. (I don't think the beta of SADE is
going to be made available; instead you will be able to get the final
version.)
