[comp.sys.mac.programmer] source code for File Manager, please....

sonenbli@oxy.edu (Andrew D. Sonenblick) (10/18/89)

Ok, so I admit to one aversion when it comes to programming the Mac.
It's not having to bit twiddle the alternate screen buffer when
necessary, nor is it having to make my applications perfectly backward
compatible as well as able to avail themselves of MultiFinder features.
My aversion is, (choke, gasp) the File Mangaer. I convulse when someone
says "Parameter block!" Anyway, my current need of the File Manager is
something that many if not most of you programmers out there have tackled
at one time or another. Therefore, the greedy little devil upon my
shoulder sneers, "Ando, why should you have to suffer the maelsrtrom of
the File Mangler when other programmers out there have the source code
for what you need sitting right on their desks?!?!" And I can't help but
agree. Therefore, I am asking all you able programmers and hackers to
pass on some simple source code for 1) duplicating files (HFS), 2) Moving
files (HFS) and 3) creating directories (HFS). The most important thing
I need is getting at all the necessary DirID's for the calls. The only
info I will be getting from the user is that from SFPut/GetFile...

I implore you, if you have the source code readily accessible, don't
just shrug it off--->send it to me via speedy delivery. (If you help me
out, I promise to return the favor in any way possible.) If you do have
the code and you don't send it in, I'll send my greedly little devil over
to whisper in your ear while you sleep "parameter block!" over and over...

Thanks for trudging through this letter. And thank you for your
  responses...	Ando Sonenblick: sonenbli@oxy.edu

Shrieking voice: "Ando are you gonna clean your room or do I have to say...
'PARAMETER BLOCK!!!!!!!!'" (That gives me bad dreams,
mommy:	"Attack of the killer parameter blocks!" He attacked me with all
of his ioParam and volumeParam fields......

) <--close paranthesis...
