Introducing (Drum roll please), a mailing list for "World Builder". What is World Builder? World Builder is an application released by Silicon Beach Software that allows one to create stand-alone Graphical Adventures complete with Digitized sounds and graphics. It also contains a small structured programming language similar in syntax to BASIC. Several commercial games have been developed and released using World Builder including the original "Enchanted Sceptres" also by Silicon Beach Software and others such as ArtWorx's "Grail Quest". Or, to let the WB manual speak for itself, "World Builder is more than just a simple game maker, it's a serious prtogrammers tool. With it, you can develop games that rival even the best commercially available adventures. Players of your World Builder adventures can: * Explore up to 2,500 different scenes. * View each scene in a detailed graphics window. * Encounter any number of characters or objects. * Battle monsters. * Hear realistic digitized sounds while exploring or fighting. * Save unfinished games for completion later. * Plus lots more. " pg. 8, World Builder's manual Purpose of the list- The proposed purpose of this list is to provide a forum to discuss ideas, concepts, and information pertaining to World Builder. Also, I would like for the members to be able to swap libraries, sounds, graphics, routines, and program fragments. We can also air any gripes and submit any suggestions about World Builder to Silicon Beach Software. Additionally, I would like to maintain a list of all known PD, Shareware, and Commercial releases of World Builder games, as well as providing a site for the distribution of the PD and Shareware games. How do I join this fantastic list? Just send me mail. Upon receipt of your mail, I will send you a questionaire about yorself and your involvement with World Builder. If you are not interested in the World Builder but would like to swap Digitized sounds and graphics then this list is still for you! I will be creating a smaller subset of the list for those interested in just sounds and graphics. You won't have to deal with letters about the program itself. Please send all mail to pearl@aramis.rutgers.edu. I look forward to seeing y'all on the list.
