We were cheerfully counting all the files on the disc, because ISO 9660 doesn't contain a file count, and the Mac vcb does. On discs with a large number of files, this takes too long. This comes from trying too hard to look as much as possible like a Mac disc... In the next release of CD-ROM software, we'll zero out the vcbFilCnt field. The only thing that uses this field is the Get Info box in the Finder (when you select the volume and pull down Get Info) so we also include a warning in the comment field when that case occurs. Sorry, I don't know (and couldn't comment if I did know) when the next CD-ROM software release goes out the door. I'm a spectator on this one. --Brian Bechtel blob@apple.com "My opinion, not Apple's"
