[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Sending zero length ATP requests and responses

dan@lclark.UUCP (Dan Revel) (01/19/90)

Hi,

I'm trying to get some ATP based transactions running here and have
run across somewhat of a puzzlement. First off, I'm using Think C
and the 'preferred' Appletalk interface.

Where I run into difficulties is when I try to use PSendRequest
with the numOfBuffs field of the parameter block set to 0, and
using PSendResponse with both numOfBuffs and bdsSize set to 0.
In the later case the response message just never gets sent, I
can't remember what happens in the first case, but I think it
was the same thing: the request didn't get sent.

Now it may seem odd to be sending requests and responses with
no content but I had hoped in some cases to just be able to use
the userbytes...

Can someone here clarify for me just what is going on here, what
do the ATP routines expect to get, and is there any way for me to
pass zero length messages using ATP?

Thanks,

	Dan
