According to Tech Note #19, the sound driver should no longer be used, for all sorts of good reasons: it is buggy, conflicts with the sound manager (SysBeep, in particular), doesn't take advantage of the ASC, etc. OK, but suppose I want to circumvent the sound manager, for my own sufficient reasons. What am I supposed to do? The author(s) of SoundEdit faced this problem in setting up a feedback loop (in meter mode, data is sent straight from the MacRecorder out the speakers). So it is obviously possible. Anyone know how it should be done? In case there is a machine dependency issue, I am working on a Mac II. -Michael Larsen
