[net.micro] Mail-Order vs Retailers

I've dealt pretty extensively with both mail-order and retail stores and in my
not-so-humble opinion, the best support I've received has been from reputable
mail-order houses that offer toll-free support for the products they sell.
1. Mail order firms like Standard Software and LogicSoft have personnel
DEVOTED to support, as opposed to local retailers who will help you if they're
not busy selling.
2. The sales (and support) staff of retailers that I am familiar with tend to
be of little help at all beyond "how do I plug it in?". I don't and most people
here don't need that kind of support.
3. The ONE nice thing about local retailers is that you can generally make them
exchange DOA equipment back for immediate exchange.
Otherwise , I see no need to pay hundreds of dollars more for software and get
less support than I know I can get from a mail order seller. Nuff said.
