I'm posting this to c.s.m.programmer 'cause I figure programmers would have run into this if anyone had... I have an SE w/2.5M memory and an external La Cie 40M drive, with its SilverLining drive software running under System 6.04 (installed with the 6.04 Installer, using the Installer defaults for "any Macintosh"). I run under the Multifinder that came w/ Sys.6.04, and my only "Init" is Macsbug 6.0 (nothing else, no non-Apple cdevs). Disinfectant 1.6 gives me a clean bill of health. The problem is that ResEdit 1.2 (the release version) will crash the machine if I open a new resource file, create a WIND and resize it using the mouse in the graphic WIND display mode, then quit ( the crash comes after the save, during the time RedEdit is closing its windows ). The ResEdit partition is 500k, but the crash still occurs with 700k allocated. The crash occurs if ResEdit is the only application under Multifinder as well as if other stuff (THINK C 4.0) is open. I have reinstalled System 6.04, then copied a new RedEdit 1.2 on from the APDA distribution disk and BOOM! crash city. Sometimes I get blown into Macsbug with an address error, ID=2, sometimes I get a "ResEdit unexpectedly quit (28)" messages. Arrgh! This is driving me nuts. Have I missed something obvious like Macsbug 6.0, ResEdit 1.2 and System 6.04 being incompatible on SE's? Any help would be appreciated, but you might as well e-mail me on this to prevent wasted bandwidth... I can summarize later if there's interest. Thanks, O NetPersons!

ResEdit crashes for me if I choose Get Info on a file. It gives me a -43 (file not found) error and then crashes with a bus error. Nick Pilch nicky@cup.portal.com (This is with system 6.0.4, MultiFinder 6.1b9, minimal INITs)
