I just received my upgrade to LSP 2.0, which is now called Think Pascal 3.0, and I think it is great. They hava totally revamped the program to include better Object Oriented Programming and it now comes with 3 manuals too boot. They have also included the Think Class Library(TCL) which has premade classes for OOP which allows you to start making your personal applications by adding slight modifications to the existing code. If you have ever had to program the make interface from scratch, you will definitely like the class library. I believe it is like MacApp, but since I have never user or seen MacApp this is only speculation on my very humble part. It seems as though Symantec is trying to corner MPW's share of the market will this new upgrade, I think they just might especially with the Class Browser which gives you an overview a OOP program graphically in a tree structure. I was hoping someone could tell me, either someone from Symantec or a person in the know, if the cdev class included in Think C 4.0 is going to be ported over to Pascal as the Art Class program was? Is it possible to port over and are their any inclusions to the TCL slated for the near future. for OOP which allows you to start making your personal applications by adding slight modifications to the existing code. A few points I wanted to mention in response to the, well shall I say whining, on the net for the past few weeks. I bought LightSpeed Pascal 2.0 from MacConnection in December of 1989 for 85+shipping. I ordered my upgrade for Think Pascal on Friday 15 or March. I received the upgrade in less than a week (of course I did pay the 2.50 to have it send via ups 2-day, big deal two fifty is more than I spend on lunch). I was VERY impressed with the work done on the manuals and the program itself. In fact because of the Think Class Library and the manuals I am excited about learning OOP, whereas before it was something I dreaded seeing as how I don't know C and MPW is WAY out of the range of this college student. I think Rich and the rest of the programmers at Symantec out did themselves with this new version and I cannot wait until my Finals are over to actually programming with the thing. As for being a student and the cost of programs it would be nice to have and educational discount for Symantecs products but I paid about $160 and received LSP 2.0 and Think Pascal 3.0 both, thats not bad consedering MS-Word cost at about $99 academic and about $75 to upgrade. Besides, the support just on this net shows Symantecs support for their product, or at least the programmerssupport, and I think they are doing an excellent job. If you dont agree, please dont flame me, just realize that other students and programmers applaud when a company puts noticable time and thought into a new product and they deserve to ask for fair compensation. P.S. You can still by Turbo Pascal in an academic version if you are that upset. Sorry Symantec I do not mean to make you lose customers. I burned my copy of Turbo Pascal in a bon fire the second after I saw your Pascal. Thank you for a great product and thank you in advance for any news of the Think Class Library additions or cdev classes Johnathon Suker
