I have an Austin Franklin 80 board which works extremely well. I have heard of problems with the BIT-3 board causing much RFI. BIT-3 is software controlled whereas the AF is controlled by a cartridge in the right slot. As far as what works with it I can only tell you about the things that I have tried. All the OSS software (this is the old non-cartridge stuff) BASIC (PILOT I do believe) Assembler/editor cart. ATR-8000 -- If you have (or want to get one of these wonderful CP/M for ATARI machines) The AF board is a must. They supply a terminal program in cartridge that allows you to use the ATARI as a terminal w/o the need to load anything from disk so your ATARI-ATR8000 connection is very nice.(80 columns is a definite must with the stuff I do in CP/M) AF has a very good product which they keep improving they also have provided execellent support. BIT-3 I tried in the very infancy to get some technical documentation from them. They seemed very willing why I was standing at a booth at a computer show but when I talked to them later it was no-go. I even had access to the board through a dealer so I wasn't even asking for any free use!(even though at the show they offered it) More programs are coming out for the AF board every day and most anything that doesn't use player-missile graphics oror graphic mode besides 0 seems to work. (Unless it's a 16K cartridge which doesn't work according to AF documentation) If you have any questions drop me mail. Ralph Jenson HI-MULTICS
