[comp.sys.mac.programmer] User menu for Finder 7.0?

On the same subject... (well, almost) What I want to see most in the finder
is the ability to configure what each of the displays under "view" shows you.
Perhaps with custom titles instead of the standard names "by icon...etc".
ANyway, I'd like to be able to have a tool chest which shows various pieces
of information and for the "by icon" move them around so the fields I want to
see are within the configuration window. By default, it shows the 2 icons (one
is the highlight mask) and the name bar under the icon.

For the "by Name" selection I'd like to order the fields I want to see, maybe
select unusual fields such as the type or creator....

If apple would make the "look" of each of these modes customizable with a
configuration mode which let the user select which of all the file-info fields
the user wants to see, and what order... then nobody could complain that the
finder doesn't show what they want... they could change it. Le Voila!

Anyway, that's my bid -- for the Finder!

I'd be happy to talk to anyone at Apple that is interested in more details, the
user interface, examples, etc... PS. I live in the area.. used to work across
the steet and watched many of the new apple buildings being built!
