Greg: The Best solution to short Floppy Life is to have a Copy. Floppies are temporary storage at best (without protection mechanisms), and UNRELIABLE storage when such mechanisms are added. My suggestion to you ,the OWNER, is to circumvent the protection mechanisms and copy the floppy. As an OWNER, that is your right (as long as you don't give a copy away). A.Gomez (BTL PY)

The problem of short lived floppies is very real when the floppies cost $6.50 each, and are only available from DEC. If the disks only cost $2, and lasted a semester, it would be acceptable to just assure that enough copies were made for the next semester. But the high cost of the floppies for the DEC personal computers make this expensive.
