[net.micro] SIMON vs COCO-Ext BASICs

knudsen@ihnss.UUCP (10/15/83)

Yes, you do have to get Extended Basic on the Coco to have a good system.
As a proud Coco owner, I hate to admit it, but SIMON does have a lot of
features I wish Coco had -- local & call variables, FIND, ON ERROR GOTO,
and maybe a decent screen editor. Coco users can buy aftermarket
soup-up packages too, but they get in the way of the disk or free RAM.
I WILL go out on a limb and say that Coco Extended was the first
BASIC to have such extensive graphic and sound support built in,
plus manuals that made them easy to start using. But, let's face it,
SIMON is better. But here comes OS9 and BASIC09.... mike k
