[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Comprehensive list of TMPLs

gt0228b@prism.gatech.EDU (FALCO,VINNIE) (05/30/90)

I have the docs for ResEdit Version 1.2B3 here, and the only
templates in it that are defined are
DBYT DWRD DLNG HBYT HWRD HLNG AWRD ALNG FBYT FWRD FLNG
HEXD PSTR LSTR WSTR ESTR OSTR CSTR ECST OCST BOOL BBIT
TNAM CHAR RECT Hnnn

LSTZ LSTE (for controlling variable length lists)

OCNT LSTB (different types of variable length lists)

If any of these haven't been posted, or more detailed info is
needed on how to make the lists, lemme know...

Also, the manual sez that templates for
actb cctb clut dctb fctb pltt ppat wctb
have been added, but these are of limited usefulness since
you have to enter values in as numbers (All of these templates,
as all resources with lowercase letters, pertain to color
tables, and control color definitions) instead of using the
color picker (Comon Apple, get with it! Where is ResEdit v2.0 (non Beta :)

There are some ResEdit Editors and Pickers floating around which let
you create and edit color icons, 'icl's (A strain of specialized color
icons that Apple has neglected to inform me about). An 'icl8' is a type
of color icon that is exactly 32x32 and uses the System palette...SunDesk
init can utilize these icl8s, and I believe that somewhere along the line
Apple has patched up the Finder to highlight these icons properly (maybe
it is SunDesk that is doing this).

There are also some Editors and Pickers that handle the BNDLs, and a
ResEdit that lets you resize windows, and show PICTs as PICTs and not
names and numbers...Lots of goodies. I have collected this ResEdit, and
accumulated many of the editors and pickers into a single jammed ResEdit
application. If anyone wants it, and it is not a violation (is ResEdit
free? I paid for it along with MPW) please post a note and I will put
it up on comp.binaries.mac
