Anyone know where I can get a listing of software packages available for the p-system? By this I mean things not put out by Softech, such as word processing, data management etc. aron shtull-trauring harpo!presby!aron

The "system compilation mode" does in fact let you access the system variables. If memory serves, Dr. Wo wrote an article either in "Apple Orchard" or "Washington Apple Pi" on the system variables. It has been between 6 months and a year since I saw the article. The debugger did have considerable bugs, at least according to my sources. The problems revolved around the fact the debugger was in Pascal, but there not being enough registers on the 6502 to allow some of the tracing necessary. I have managed to acquire the Pascal source for the debugger, but have never been successful in linking it to the rest of the system. Further rumors, the new release of Pascal will apparently also be lacking the debugger. None of the modifications sound earth-shaking. Top on my wish list is changing the Pascal file system to not require contiguous files. Surely it can't be that difficult, after all, DOS does it. -- eric ...!seismo!umcp-cs!aplvax!eric
