There seem to be quite a few MacApp programmers out there. Many of them, like myself, are relative novices. (There are exceptions; I think I noticed a recent poster's name on the cover of one of my books. :-) Does anyone else think there's enough traffic and/or interest to warrant a new newsgroup? I know that I would tend to post to and read more from a MacApp-specific group than wading through the rest of the c.s.m.programmer articles. Comments? Questions? Flames? -- David J. I for one would very much like to see the creation of a MacApp newsgroup, or at least a MacOOP newsgroup if others feel that MacApp is too specific. This can then include queries and contributions from those who use the Think Class library as well as MacApp. ----------------- Keng Ng Dept of Computing Imperial College 180 Queen's Gate London SW7 2BZ Tel: +44 71 589 5111 ext 5091

At this point in time I don't think there's enough MacApp traffic in c.s.m.p to warrant it's own newsgroup. If you have access to AppleLink there is a ton of traffic about it there - too much to digest in real-time, so most people I know just download the weekly digests and keep them online for reference. anders

Indeed there is a MacOOPs mailing list, which is: macoops@andrew.cmu.edu Although 'subscriptions' are great, the current traffic is extremely low. All of the major players are represented, including a healthy oops contingent from Apple and THINK. If you have questions, or would like to be added to this list, send your request to mm3d@andrew.cmu.edu and I'll add you to the list. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt M. Yes!!! I, too, would like to see a special MacApp technical group. It should probably be called comp.sys.mac.programmer.macapp. I am the author of "Calendar Creator", which is published by Power Up Software of San Mateo, Ca. I believe that it was the first application to ship under MacApp 2.0. Lots of programmers could save lots of head scratching with such a group. Net Gods? Are you listening? Is it possible for someone to post the weekly digests to c.s.m.p. then, for the benefit of those of us without access to AppleLink ? ------------ Keng Ng Dept of Computing Imperial College 180 Queen's Gate London SW7 2BZ Tel: +44 71 589 5111 ext 5091
