Hello, Larry Rosenstein of Apple suggested I post a message here. I am interested in gathering some success stories about the use of MacApp, and object-oriented programming in general, to help spread the O-O gospel among MIS types. Hopefully a more accurate picture of the O-O world can be gathered from developers than from language vendors. Among MIS types, I find that they really only care about real-world experiences that others have had, so: - to help them escape the COBOL era (yes I know about OO COBOL!) - to promote the Mac as an advanced development platform - to promote object-oriented techniques - to promote object-oriented languages which should benefit everyone, I am gathering some case studies of object- oriented projects. Results will be public. Detailed quantitative comparisons of experience between object-oriented and structured approaches are the best, but of course not everyone has/can release such information, so an overview of: size of project (# people, # modules, lines of code, etc.) nature of project (inhouse, value-added, production, off-the-shelf) nature of product (financial, general business, technical, etc.) time to completion (in months/years) response to change (bug turnover, spec-change turnover, new releases) subjective comparison to past experience, if any would help a lot. Of course, I will post results back here, and will not repost any particular details that you mark PRIVATE - such as your company name, if your story isn't so rosy. This is the most valuable kind, as the rosy kind can be gathered in droves from Stepstone, Interactive, Glockenspeil, Apple, and other O-O vendors. I already have lots of these! So, let's spread it around and help things grow... :) Regards, -- Craig Hubley kid after Live Aid: "Is that it?"
