[comp.sys.mac.programmer] choosing an appropriate DBMS

Hi!

Since last year, I'm involved in a project in the department of electrical
engineering at the University of Linkoping (Sweden); the main aim of this
project is to develop a simple, but flexible and powerful integrated framework
which covers all the design steps from DSP specification to final chip layout.
The tool I am working on for the last year, which is part of this project, has
to deal with the design of VLSI circuits. The purpose of developing this tool is
to implement and evaluate a highly structured design methodology for DSP systems
that exploits a sophisticated user-interface. To develop this tool, I am
programming in Object Oriented Pascal, and using MPW 3.1 and MacApp, of course.
Right now, my main goal would be to implement a Quad-Tree structure to store the
different objects created in my application, and to facilitate the design and to
improve the speed of a powerful Design Rule Checker (which should be the next
step of my work).
For that, I would like to get some advices from a competent person, to buy a
suitable database management system, in order to implement this Quad-Tree
structure for my application. For instance, which one would be the most
appropriate between these database management software ( I really do not know!):
- BTree Manager
- Inside Out
- db-VISTA III DataBase Development System
- C-Tree File Handler/Server
- 4th Dimension v2.0

Thanks in advance for your advices!
