Can anyone recommend documentation and/or source code (ftp'able or in print) about the Sound Manager? We have Inside Mac Vol. 5, and it doesn't provide the level of detail we're looking for. We'd like to convert some data files into a format that we could play over the sound port. They are digitized at about 20 kHz with 16 bits of resolution. Can the new sound chip even handle 16 bits of resolution? From what we could divine from Inside Mac, it's only 8 bits... Any help appreciated, -- # Daniel M. Telnet to apple.com and look around in the dts directory (something like /pub/mac/dts). There is a file called sound-manager.hqx which corrects all the errors and adds new information to Inside Mac v. 5. Yes, the Mac does only 8-bit playback.
