[net.micro] NORTHSTAR 8088 co-processor

glm@we53.UUCP (10/23/83)

Being the owner of a Northstar Horizon, the advertised co-processor
(an 8088) has of course caught my eye. Does anyone have any
information on them?

1. Why have the delivery dates slipped so much?
(Is it getting Turbo Dos to work?)

2. Since it must be similar to the co-processor in the Advantage, are
there any Advantage owners out there who have purchased the co-
    processor?

3. What is the current opinion of TURBO DOS?

Being also the administrator of a 3B-20S mini, I have been interested
in getting UN*X and C on my home computer. Getting UN*X has meant, in
the past at least, getting a different computer. Does anyone know of
a UN*X that might run on the co-processor? (Can one use the origional
Z80 as a UUCP like process?)

I have just got around to looking at C compilers for my Z80, and have
decided on BDS C, based on all the good comments I have been hearing.
Now I am not sure what to do, with an 8088 comming out. Are there any
good 8088 C compilers? If so should I consider an 8088 C compiler and
a cross-compiler for my Z80?

Any comments will be welcome.
