Can anyone tell me about a funny thing I've had turn up on my Mac Plus lately. I have an invisible folder named "Applications 1". Now it used to be visible, but at this time, neither the Finder nor Find File seem to be able to see it. However, when I use "Disktop", it is listed as if it were a regular folder, and I can move it around inside other folders as if it were normal. According to MacSnoop, it has the same attributes "0010 16" as normal folders. What is making it invisible? Actually, if I can reproduce this condition, I have a use for it here in some classroom programming. Can anyone explain what is happening here, or point me to the correct reference in Inside Macintosh? thanks... You can make a folder (in)visible with ResEdit - select the folder, do a Get Info, click the "invisible" check box (which is visible...), and save the information. I'm using ResEdit 1.2b2, but I assume this is in earlier versions as well. Bob Hablutzel BOB@NUACC.ACNS.NWU.EDU

Hi Net, Thanks to those people who replied to my earlier queries, that was much appreciated. I have some more questions: 1) Why doesn't Multifinder recognise the invisible bit on the folder flags? I'm running 6.04 and the UniFinder makes the folder invisible. 2) Why doesn't SFGetFile pass a folder's information to it's filterProc? Folders don't even get a look in during the display pass. I'm writing an application to allow users to build up a list of files to hide and show later. This stops children from trashing documents and applications while playing games on the Mac. This would be useful if you could select a folder to become invisible, I have got the folder selecting bit. Making individual files invisible would be impractical. aTdHvAaNnKcSe..... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Eaves "Oh no, there goes Tokyo, go go Godzilla." - Blue Oyster Cult _Godzilla_ ACSnet ( jon@wehi.dn.mu.oz ) UUCP ( uunet!munnari!wehi.dn.mu.oz!jon ) Internet ( jon%wehi.dn.mu.oz@uunet.uu.net ) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
