To those of more experience in this particular arena, I would like to emulate the function of SCSI Probe. I hate to ask for help, but me research has left me wanting... I have no further recourse. How should I scan for connected devices, differentiate between drives (storage devices) and other peripherals, such as scanners. If a drive is connected, but unmounted, how do I obtain the appropriate number to pass to PBMountVol (if in fact that is the call I need to make to mount an unmounted drive...)? Is an unmounted volume in the drive queue? And what differences are there between actual drives and "fake" drives, such as hard disk partitions... if a partition is unmounted, how does one 1) detect its presenece and obtain the drive number to mount it... and 2) I guess there ain't no two... Anyhow, if anyone has any bits of info or input, please give a holler... Sonenbli@oxy.edu Ando "Moon" Sonenblick
