Please forgive me if this is incredibly naive, but this is my first foray into the macintosh area... I'd like to know what the format of sound files is for the Mac. These files are "snd resource" files, or some such thing. I'd like to know this in terms appropriate for using these files on machines other than the Mac. (I know, heresy!) Background info: I recently came across a (dare I say it?) IBM PC program (remac) that will "play" Macintosh sounds, such as Clint Eastwood saying "Go ahead, Make my day." I'd like to write a similiar program for my workstation, but need to know the format of the sound file: How many bits/value, a formula for mapping the value to frequency, and if any timing information is in the file. (Based on remac, I'd say that the answer to the last one is no). Thanks! I got one response that pointed me to the rewritten sound manager document at apple.com, but unfortunately, it is HQXed, SITed, and MSWORDed. I managed to get it to a .bin file, but don't know any mac users who are network/telecom smart, I don't know how telecom smart a mac is "out of the box," and I don't know if MSWORD comes standard. Can someone provide me with a copy of this file in a format suitable for direct printing? HP laserjet PCL would be nice, but I can also do dvi, and maybe even postscript. If it is in laserwriter format, I might be able to figure out how to get it onto a friend's mac and printed... Thanks a lot! Doug "Gee, I wish I could afford a mac..."
