I am looking for opinions on 'good' In-circuit emulators to use for the 68030 processor. I'm especially interested in finding an ICE that will work at 40 mHz. Since Apple has successfully designed the II/FX, which runs at 40 mHz, I assume that they must have found an ICE which works at that frequency. (If anyone from Apple is reading this and feels like giving me a pointer to a vendor, I'd be ever so grateful!) -Bill Leue General Electric Research & Development Center leue@crd.ge.com

I have no knowledge of how Apple does things, but in my experience the existence of a machine using processor X does not in any way mean that the developers know of an ICE for that processor. Hardware people seem to get by quite well with just their 'scopes and the occasional logic analyzer. Software people are assumed to not need ICE because it is "obviously" designed for hardware development, so why would software people need it? This can be most annoying. Tim Smith
