[comp.sys.mac.programmer] Communications Toolbox, several questions

maa@clinet.fi (Miika Asunta) (09/19/90)

Here are some questions about Communications Toolbox:

1.	How to get it as soon us possible?
2.	Can it detect communications rate when modem has been
set to for example 2400 bps in autoanswer mode, and connecting
	modem comes in with 1200?
3.	Must it be distributed with programs that use/support it?
4.	How much does it cost?
5.	Are there ready interfaces for THINK_C? This means, is it provided
as a THINK_C library or as a system document, or both?

Thank you.

Try APDA. It may also be available on commercial bulletin boards - I haven't
checked lately... (like CompuServe or GENIE...), you might also check the

The Apple Modem Tool does support this.

Ideally, however keep in mind that CommToolbox is bundled with System 7.0
(although the tools are not).

CommToolbox 80
Basic Connectivity Set 50

The CommToolbox package includes the documentation, installer disk, and
interface/object files.

The Basic Connectivity Set includes the ADSP, Apple Modem, and Serial
connekction tools, the Text and XMODEM file transfer tools, and the TTY and
VT102 terminal tools.

There are additional tools available.

Note that these are single use licenses. Commercial redistribution licenses
can be arranged.

You might want to check on AppleLink (if you have access). Converting the
interface files and the object files are trivial... (come to think of it,
maybe Symantec has already converted these)

Hope this helps.
