Okay, here's a bit of trivia for baseball fans. Since the American
League instituted the designated hitter rule, pitchers have never had to
worry about facing their opposite numbers at bat. BUT, there have been
occasions when pitchers have been put in the lineup. Who are they?

A couple of caveats: i don't remember myself, so don't send me mail
expecting me to grade your answers. I do remember that it has happened
at least two and maybe three times. One of the times was in Detroit,
when the manager (either Houk or Anderson) mixed up his lineup cards to
give to the umpire, and the ump ruled that the pitcher was to be the DH.

Another question: did any of these pitchers ever come to bat?

If i am violating some rule by asking trivia questions without
knowing the answers beforehand, i apologize, but i have been wondering
for some time now, and i'd really like to know...
