i just wrote a program to set up a dvorak keyboard on my mac. i did this by making a new KCHR resource and then following the instructions given in tech note #160 to install it. this was unsatisfactory for several reasons - creating the KCHR resource was unduly time-consuming (i had to modify 8 key mapping tables, instead of just one), many programs (e.g. macromaker, continuum, red ryder) don't always read keystrokes in such a way as to cause the KCHR to have an effect, etc. looking at the tech note, it struck me that using a KMAP resource would quite possibly work rather better. unfortunately, it didn't actually tell me how to install one. help/suggestions, anyone? (also, if anybody wants the program, send me mail.) thanks, david carlton carlton@husc9.harvard.edu B5 f- t w- r-
