For some characters in, say, Adobe's Helvetica, the LaserWriter will output a glyph from the Symbol font. This is a pain for things like the registered trademark ("R" in a circle) where Helvetica has a great Helvetica version, but the Symbol version is like Times. As a kicker, my copy of Adobe's New Aster gets the correct circle-R, TM, etc., but the wrong mu (micro symbol). The mu is coming from Symbol. (This is confirmed by looking at the "Disk File" PostScript file.) How does the Apple LaserWriter decide to substitute glyphs from Symbol? -- Kent Borg internet: kent@camex.com AOL: kent borg H:(617) 776-6899 W:(617) 426-3577 "The prospect of their mass excites astrophysicists, who are always on the lookout for ways to make the universe heavier" -- The Economist, 9-22-90
