I'm looking forward to the announcement of the new Macs on Oct. 15, not only for themselves, but also for the release of System 6.0.6. This version of the system is rumored to have the enhanced version of the Sound Manager that will appear in System 7. I don't have access to IM V6, so I don't know what these enhancements are, or how to use them. Presumably, there will be support for sound input, stereo output, bug fixes, and the removal of current restrictions on some of the synthesizers. Since IM V6 is not generally available (and won't be until after System 7 is released) it would be very useful if the new Sound Manager chapter could be made available on apple.com (or better yet, ftp.apple.com ;-)) at some appropriate time.
