[comp.sys.mac.programmer] TML Pascal is no more

gft_robert@gsbacd.uchicago.edu (10/10/90)

-----
Just got a note in the mail today from Symantec telling me that TML Pascal is
no longer being produced, and that TML/Symantec are offering TML Pascal owners
a reduced price "crossgrade" to THINK Pascal 3.0.

So, did TML go belly up, or it just their Pascal (what else do they make)? No
wonder I couldn't get any updates. The THINK deal is nice, except I already
have THINK. I could have used a cheap upgrade to MPW Pascal, since that's what
I bought TML in place of.

Robert

Tom Leonard is still putting food on the table, but it's my
understanding that he's decided to get out of the compiler business.

Dear Robert -
You can do exactly what you wish to do. In response to TML Systems decision
to exit the Macintosh development tools market, APDA is offering the opportunity
for TML Pascal customers to purchase MPW Object Pascal at a 50% discount
($75.00), SADE at a 50% discount ($37.50), and the MPW 3.1 Development
Environment at the reqular update price ($35.00).
APDA is doing this to protect our developers investment in MPW based
development tools...we did not want to see you folks left high and dry.
This offer is being done through mail order. If you are a registered TML
customer, then you will receive a package with the order forms and more
information at the address at which you are registered with TML. If you are
not a registered TML customer, you can request a package from APDA at
1-800-282-APDA.
To be eligible for this offer, you must be a TML Pascal II v. 3.0 or 3.1
owner, and you must send your TML Pascal II master disk in with the order
form.

Tom Leonard is actually looking for testers and programmers in Jacksonville,
Florida. He's posted a note at the University of North Florida on the job
search board next to the computer science division office. MacIntosh
development is a pretty dry prospect in Jax (unless you're working for
CSX Technology Division where they're HEAVILY investing bucks in automating
their train programs). Overall, Jax is a 95% COBOL / RPG shop area (gag me!).

I guess Tom's not too interested in getting a connection from UNF to Usenet.
Too bad, because it's a free connect (I know...but all flames about the "costs"
of Usenet will go to /dev/null ;)). I don't know Tom personally but it appears
he's still going to be developing Mac products (the job posting specified Mac
development/testing).
