You can get nice typewriters with serial interfaces (i.e., act like
a terminal) for about $650. The one I am thinking of is the Silver
Reed typewriter.

Other than that, save your money and buy used equipment!

Does anybody have suggestions on how to set myself up with
an Epson/Epson-clone combined with SCRIBBLE and possibly
"Fancy Font" for some *VERY SMALL* amount of money?

I can get an IBM Selectric II (Self-correcting, for all its
worth) for $600. The obvious problems with such a device are
that I am not a great typist (or even a good one!) and hence
will often be halfway through a page when I will decide that I
want to change the format at the top of the page.

The advantage, of course, is that $600 isn't very much when
compared against $500 for a terminal, $XXXX for a computer,
$XXX for the Epson, and $XXX for the software.

Help? Does anybody have a suggestion on how to get these *NICE*
playtoys at affordable prices?
