I just wanted to let any interested parties in on the following: Earlier this summer I attended a night of ballet at the New York City Ballet and it was great (it was also the first time I had seen a ballet) all of the pieces that night were choreographed by Balanchine and were spectacular, but the real topper wasStravinsky's Firebird....the music as always was brilliant and the dancing was beautiful, but the real hook were the 20 foot high backdrops that were originally painted by Marc Chagall. Actually these backdrops were redone by another artist from the originals by Chagall. The originals had been done to fit the ballet's old home (another theatre in N.Y.) and were too small for the modern theatre that the ballet now calls home. Anyway , I literally had chills running up and down my spine during the performance and will never be able to listen to 'The Firebird' again without it invoking recollections of that evening.... if any of you have a chance to see this production of this ballet, by all means see it. You'll really be glad you did. keith hedger ihnp4!inmet!ada-uts!hedger
