[comp.sys.mac.programmer] tech notes on apple.com

resnick@lees.cogsci.uiuc.edu (Pete Resnick) (06/29/90)

So I finally figured out that tech notes were available on apple.com;
I gotta wonder if this could be somewhat more obvious, but I found
them, so I can't complain too much.

Can someone tell me what exactly I need from those directories? I
figured out (after downloading two directories of individual files)
that the tn.bundles directory has everything in Stuffit files. That
was substantially easier. But then there is this "tn.latest.release"
directory. What, in there, is not in the other files? What do I need
to print out of the files in the tn directory? Would this be easier
in Hypercard (which I hate using anyway)?

I think we need a README file, eh?

(OK, I shouldn't whine; you didn't have to put them out there anyway
and APDA could've made loads more money on me.)

Could it be the case that the tech notes on apple.com are obsolete?

Quite a few of them are obsolete. The collection is inconsistent: The
directories containing individual technotes (tn.001.050, tn.051.100 etc.)
seem to be left in an old state (2/90?), but the directory containing
complete release packages (tn.latest.release) is ok. I guess this won't
be corrected before the new ftp site is working.
