Is this the case? It's up to each application to "publish" its scrap information to the system (Multifinder). Normally, the application keeps its information internal, or within TextEdit, and only writes ("publishes") the scrap when a task switch occurs. I don't think it's possible to show an accurate clipboard from another application.
