I just got a copy of Sesame C. Does anyone know how to use it? I typed in a little program and try to compile it... I got 2 output: an assembly code and an object file. Now what? The place where I got my copy (sumex.stanford) does have any doc. Anybody know where I can get that? Or do I have to pay $40 to register before I can even get the thing working? Does anyone have a recent version? I was sufficiently interested in the early version I found on sumex to send for a recent version, but this was 2 months ago, and I've received no reply... Speaking of which, does anyone have a recent version of McAsm? The author has an answering machine and doesn't return phone calls. I'd like to support shareware authors, but it's kind of hard if they won't talk to me... Philip Machanick philip@pescadero.stanford.edu

I have managed to get hold off a shareware C Compiler for the Mac. It is called Sesame C by Sesame Software, Box 2472, Ann Arbor, Mi 48106. I would like to register - but because the software is dated 86 I doubted that they were still at the given address. A letter went unanswered I am therefore asking whether any body has any knowledge of either the person(s) who wrote the software or the latest version (the one I have is Version 1.0.3) or where (in the US) I can get a later version. I rather liked the compiler since it is small and offers an assembler and (unlike the Shareware PC compilers) seems to work. Thanks, Peter.

Since several people from around the world have contacted me concerning an earlier posting I am replying to the net - part of previous posting: >I have managed to get hold off a shareware C Compiler for the Mac. >It is called Sesame C by Sesame Software, Box 2472, Ann Arbor, Mi 48106. >I would like to register - but because the software is dated 86 I >doubted that they were still at the given address. I have managed to glean off those who have so kindly sent me information that there are later versions of the C Compiler and that it is probable that Sesame is still operating from the given address. I have not managed to ascertain the standard of the latest release or which version is actually the latest. For those who wrote asking for a copy and/or where they could get hold of a copy I can only say that I got it from Lancaster University's Public Domain Archive (UK). I believe that you can only access this site by JANET. This archive runs a mail server service accessible as archive-server@uk.ac.lancs.pdsoft. However the copy here is not (as far as I can tell) the latest version of this software and I am afraid that I do not know where its primary distribution site is. Peter.
