[comp.sys.mac.programmer] X on Mac Classic?

Probably a dumb question...

Has anyone tried MacX or eXodus (are these the two non-A/UX XWindow
options for Macs?) on a Classic? I'm interested in doing some
very basic development at home, and speed is not too important.
I can upgrade the memory and disk space as needed. Thanks.

I am running MacX right now on my plain old Macintosh SE, which I
understand is basically the same as the Mac Classic. I am connected
by LocalTalk through a FastPath bridge to the ethernet. Speed is
adequate for character based applications or simple bitmaps (like xdvi).
Animated windows are verrrry slow.

MacX 1.0.1 was tested pretty thoroughly on MacClassic. But you'll need
a way to communicate between your Macintosh and your machine running the
clients (i.e., a FastPath gateway or something like it).

Let me know if you need more info...
