Probably a dumb question... Has anyone tried MacX or eXodus (are these the two non-A/UX XWindow options for Macs?) on a Classic? I'm interested in doing some very basic development at home, and speed is not too important. I can upgrade the memory and disk space as needed. Thanks. -Ralph rgonzal@chowder.rutgers.edu

I am connected by LocalTalk through a FastPath bridge to the ethernet. Speed is adequate for character based applications or simple bitmaps (like xdvi). Animated windows are verrrry slow. -Phil Farrell, Computer Systems Manager Stanford University School of Earth Sciences farrell@pangea.stanford.edu

MacX 1.0.1 was tested pretty thoroughly on MacClassic. But you'll need a way to communicate between your Macintosh and your machine running the clients (i.e., a FastPath gateway or something like it).
