Hi again, I'm still on the track of writing a sound input driver for serial port sound digitizers, and happily I'm almost done. I can record sound (sychronously only for now, this will change as soon as I digest the Zilog SCC manual) directly from the Sound CDEV. I have another question though. How should I save my preferences, selected by the user in the options dialog? Ordinarly, a driver would have a CDEV to set the options and change them from it, but since you are already in the Sound CDEV you can't do this. I also thought about putting something in the System file, but this is a bad idea because the sound input drivers have dynamic reference numbers (at least Apple's does <<starting at 48 it looks for an open space in the unit table, check out ptch 43, neat trick guys>>). So, I could try to remember the init file that I loaded the DRVR from, or maybe make a pref file. I seem to remember something about sys7 having a pref folder? How does this work? Is there a standard way of doing this? Seems to me, there should be. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks again.
