Why not just say, hey guys I am trying to reverse engineer a Colecovision
for fun and profit but don't want to do the work? I see you have some 
famililarity with the hardware but not quite enough to do this right, 
question : are you interested in this for your own benifit or to build 
copies of the device ? I have heard that the coleco uses a Custom 9918
from T.I. for graphics with some built in command primitives, this is
probably what you saw as the copyrighted chip, remember what copyright
means in your day to day life.
