Hello all hard-working programming people in this group, I'm very sorry for myself that I have to admit that the two articles I posted about the subject of "Linked Lists: Handles or Pointers" were hastily written and therefore it was possible for people not familiar with programming the Mac to be misguided. Now I want to make it totally clear that: a) I still hate to use locked handles UNLESS the size of them gets too large to make a temporal copy of the information to which the handle is referring. b) new programmers should read the instructions carefully which are mentioned in Inside Macintosh I and II (the parts of the usage of variables and the Memory Manager in particular). Because everything I use is based on IM! Note: in IM 4 there is also some interesting information about HSetState() and HGetState(), they do seem to work properly. So read that as well, please! But next time I will carefully prepare my articles in order to achieve the ultimate goal of highly instructive articles (worthy to appear in the UMPG). :-))) I hope everybody is satisfied by now and I hope they will forgive me the boldness with which I posted the aricles. Please direct all flames you might have on this article to /dev/null... Happy Programming!
