My apologies for posting this; private email to stephen@wolfen.cc.uow.oz bounced. In article <6775@wolfen.cc.uow.oz> stephen@wolfen.cc.uow.oz (Stephen Nicholson) writes: > Does anyone know of any Comms Toolbox module, or other INIT/ piece of code > etc. that will help us access and interpret the X.25 LAPB Protocol? Apple shipped a product called "MacX25" in the middle of 1990. It is available only from APDA; it's not sold by dealers. MacX25 has several components, and APDA offers some flexibility in purchasing the ones you want. There is a NuBus card which will plug into any NuBus machine (Mac II, IIx, IIcx, IIci, IIfx). There are cables which allow connecting the card to the network via (I think) RS232 or V.35 - check the APDA description, I could be wrong there. There is an X.25 protocol stack (implemented as a server) which runs on the NuBus card. There is system and application software that gives access to the server over AppleTalk, so that other Macs which do not have a card (or slots) can use the services. There is an X.28 (?) PAD implemented as a connection tool. And there is an extensive programmer's interface, implemented as a library, that allows you to write your own custom apps to use the server. (And that's not all, but it covers the major functionality.) Disclaimer: I worked on the MacX25 project, but only on the Mac-ish parts - I can't help you with actual X.25 stuff. Hope this helps. ========================================================================== Rick Holzgrafe | {sun, voder, nsc, mtxinu, dual}!apple!rmh Software Engineer | AppleLink HOLZGRAFE1 rmh@apple.com Apple Computer, Inc. | "All opinions expressed are mine, and do 20525 Mariani Ave. MS: 3-PK | not necessarily represent those of my Cupertino, CA 95014 | employer, Apple Computer Inc."
