Some time ago I posted a query here asking whether I could demonstrate and/or redistribute System 7.0b1 within Northwestern University under Apple's 7.0b1 license agreement. NU is an AUC school and has AUC/Partner status. I'm the official technical representative and get all the Partner mailings. I spoke to Steve Goldberg, Apple's product marketing manager for System 7. Here's a summary of what he had to say: AUC technical representatives may install and use 7.0b1 on their Macs and use the 7.0b1 programming tools. They may show this stuff to individuals or small informal groups of individuals, but not at seminars or other public university gatherings. They may redistribute all or part of the 7.0b1 draft of Inside Mac volume VI, but not the system software itself or the programming tools. Steve says that as Apple gets closer to 7.0 final, these rules will change, and in fact there may be some sort of more general availability of 7.0 to users as opposed to developers via the AUC program. He suggests contacting your AUC representative for more information. This is all I know. Please don't write to me for more details, since I don't have any. BIG DISCLAIMER: I don't work for Apple and I don't speak for Apple. This is just a summary of a phone conversation, not the word of God. p.s.: Steve says 7.0b4 is coming REAL SOON NOW.
