[comp.sys.mac.programmer] A Mac II for Koko

I recommend the book, "The Art of Human-Computer Interface Design" ed
by Brenda Laurel, Addison Wesley. Many facinating articles on the
design of interactive software.

One of the fun articles goes into detail about designing a Macintosh II system
for use by Koko the gorilla. There are details about Koko Paint, Koko Write,
and Koko's voice mail system.

One pronblem is, when gorillas get error alert boxes, they get frustrated
and angry. When gorillas get angry they hit things. hard. Koko's
mac has a 1/2" polycarbonate case over aluminum girders. The air vents
are banana and feces proof.

Alan Kay said, "The goal of the Vivarium project is to create artificial
animals. It is appropriate that we have at least one animal on our board
of advisors."
