As I understand it 4.0 is no longer the latest version of Think C, where could I find an upgrade? They used to be shipped to comp.binaries.mac or sumex but I haven't seen any.

ThC v4.0.3 is for developers that are using System 7.0 (alpha/beta). It will run with earlier versions of System Software, but it does not fix any bugs or provide any extra functionality needed under earlier versions. If you are using system verion 6.0.x, the "most current" version of ThC is 4.0.2. If you are using System 7.0, you either can (1) get the patch off the System 7 CD-ROM, or (2) download the patch from AppleLink. If you have any questions about this, you may mail them directly to me. -phil -- Phil Shapiro Technical Support Analyst Language Products Group Symantec Corporation Internet: phils@chaos.cs.brandeis.edu

I have a person wanting to sell me Think C v.4.0 (oh boy, a personal copy - no more running to the help desk at school). My question is: How can I get it upgraded to 4.0.2? If the upgrade isn't free, how much will it cost? He's willing to knock that much off the price. Jon Pace Carnegie Mellon Univ.

The 4.0x upgrades are free! and available at sumex, amongst other places. do it! but make sure you get the user manual and the library reference and the demo apps, etc. (and how do you handle registration?). -dave- hairston@henry.ece.cmu.edu

I believe you can FTP the upgrade from sumex-aim.stanford.edu (anonymous login) I'm not exactly sure which directory though.

Symantex says: "The sale of computers often involves some cloudy legal issues, and this is one of them. [...] In other cases, when the entire software product [" original diskds, manuals, etc."] is sold as part of the transaction, Symantec's Customer Service Group can transfer the registration of a product to the new owner so that he will qualify for future upgrades." (Page 7, SYMANTEC, Winter 1991) This was in reference to a question about the purchase of an entire computer, but I think the case of a single software package can be infered from the above...
