I've just got some commercial data that seems to suggest that MACFORTRAN II is 2-3 times faster than Language Systems FORTRAN. They claim they do it with superior optimisation. I've never seen that sort of speedup from optimisation. Is the info MACFORTRAN II (ABSoft) are distributing bogus or are these sort of speed ups seen on real programs as well.
