#N:smu:14300004:000:549 smu!leff Nov 24 17:57:00 1983 We tried the ventricle in the framistan trick on about fifteen computer salesmen in the Dallas area. Ten fell for it. One salesmen boasted that his machine had purple framistans instead of the usual red ones. 'ventricles in the framistan' refer to something reported in a recent issue of Byte by jerry Pournelle where he got a salesman to admit that his portable computer had ventricles and they were in the framistan where they belonged. I frequently use this as an example why people should be careful when dealing with computer salespeople.

Outstanding! Over here at SCION Corporation, Ventricles in the Framistan are quite a running joke in the sales department. I'm surprised that salespeople actually fall for this one. -- - Bessie the Hellcow speaker@umcp-cs speaker.umcp-cs@CSnet-Relay
